Your filtered shower head delivers clean bathing water, but its performance depends on the inner filter cartridge. An over‑used filter will lose filtering power, so it is important to know when to get a new one.
Replacement time is mainly affected by local water quality and family shower frequency. In hard‑water areas with heavy limescale, replace the cartridge every 1‑2 months. For medium‑hard water, change it every 2‑3 months. If you live in soft‑water regions, you may use one cartridge for up to 3 months. These are general references, not strict rules.
Watch for these clear signs for replacement.
First, water pressure becomes obviously weaker. Rinsing can only bring short‑term improvement. If flow stays low after washing, you need a new cartridge.
Second, the cartridge turns yellow, brown or dark grey. Too much dirt and limescale have built up inside, and the filter is nearly saturated.
Third, you feel unexpected skin tightness, itchiness or frizzy hair after showering. This may mean the filter no longer works well.
Please note that shower filter cartridges are consumable parts. Washing or soaking cannot fully restore their filtering ability. Strong chemical cleaners will even damage the filter material.
Even if you seldom take showers, do not use one cartridge for more than 4 months, to avoid bacteria growth from standing water.
Prepare spare cartridges in advance. Swapping is quick and tool‑free. Timely replacement keeps your shower water clean and protects your skin and hair.
